Who is shahmaran?

Shahmaran is a creature from old Kurdish stories. She has the head of a woman. Her body is a serpent. She lives in a hidden cave full of snakes.

Shahmaran
From Persian: shāh (king or queen) + mārān (snakes). The name means Queen of Snakes.

Her story is told in many languages. Kurdish, Persian, Turkish, Arabic, and Assyrian people all share her. In each version she is wise and kind. In each version she ends up betrayed.
